BlackBerry 8300 No Wifi No 3G?

Post

CIMG0670.jpg

RIM has won everyones hearts over with their blackberry’s but the 8300 looks to foil that. As the Boy Genius warns us the phone lacks Wi-Fi, video capturing capabilities, and 3G. Despite those setbacks, BG likes the phone’s thinner, smaller design (think Pearl meets 8800), .

Blackberry 8800 Hits Stores

Post

CIMG0473.jpg

It seems today was the landing date for the BlackBerry 8800. Boy Genius unboxes one on his site with a few notes on the style and performance. If the Pearl was your kind of thing, maybe you want to check this out. It seems wider, and a little more PDA driven, and not so much for the fashion set. I doubt, if you own one, your in the fashion set though.

RIM Shows the BlackBerry8800

Post

Bberry8800

RIM introduced the BlackBerry 8800, the thinnest BlackBerry handset yet. Equipped with a full, highly tactile QWERTY keyboard and RIM’s user-friendly trackball navigation system, it also includes built-in GPS, multimedia features and a microSD expandable memory slot. The quad-band GSM / GPRS and EDGE-enabled BlackBerry 8800 offers voice and data applications, including phone, email, text messaging, web browser, organizer, multimedia and more. Through its built-in GPS, the BlackBerry 8800 can pinpoint its location and provide “out-of-the-box” support for a wide variety of location based applications and services, including BlackBerry Maps. BlackBerry Maps provides driving directions - with the ability to track the route via GPS - and integrates with other BlackBerry applications, so users can generate a map from an address in their BlackBerry Address Book and send maps via email from their BlackBerry 8800. Plus advanced features including noise cancellation for enhanced audio performance, Speaker Independent Voice Recognition for Voice Activated Dialing (VAD), intuitive call management functions such as smart dialing, conference calling, speed dialing and call forwarding, as well as dedicated “send,” “end” and “mute” keys. It also features a high quality, low-distortion speakerphone and Bluetooth 2.0 for use with hands-free headsets, car kits and other Bluetooth peripherals. Support for polyphonic, mp3 and MIDI ringtones is included.

BlackBerry’s now Sync with Mac

Post

Mark/Space announced this week it would soon release a version of its Mac-to-handheld synchronization software, called Mac OS X: The Missing Sync for BlackBerry, for Research In Motion’s (RIM) wireless handhelds. The Missing Sync, which often delivers a level of compatibility between handhelds and Macs not delivered by the platform or device vendors themselves, has long served as the missing link between Apple desktops and laptops and Palm OS devices.

Last year, the company added Windows Mobile Pocket PCs and Smartphones to the list of supported PDAs and handsets. A version also exists for the Sony PSP and an edition for Danger’s hiptop smartphones has been discontinued.

RIM BlackBerry Pearl 8100 Review

Post

PearlThe BlackBerry has always been a staple of the person on the go. Everyone can text, email, surf the internet, get what you need to get done as quickly as possible, if you don’t have access to a computer.

The BlackBerry Pearl, a Quad-band smartphone includes Mp3 players, and the ability to play any audio files, but digital videos and the LCD is brigther than most for good use.

The Pearl 8100, changes that a bit. They dont make any great new leaps in technology. It does for the first time include a camera and is a little more pleasing to the eye. The price point is lower for more home users to get in on the market. The new user interface is amazingly simple to use. You have to lock in 2 years to get it at a good price, but a phone that comes highly recommended.

BlackBerry Pearl’s A Winner For RIM

Post

If you need a smartphone that does everything then the new BlackBerry Pearl, RIM’s first BlackBerry with a camera, memory expansion, and expanded multimedia capabilities, is the one for you. At a price of $249 with a three-year voice and data plan from Rogers, $449 for a one-year term it has proven to be a boon to the company.

BlackBerry 8100 or the Pearl     is the first of a radical new generation of smart phones at 4.2 by 2 by 0.6 in. and about 3.5 oz., is a cutie! The menu applications/options can be handled simply by pressing down on the trackball. The opotions are very user-friendly and a lot of your tasks and multi-step ones are handled simply by repeated pressing of trackball.

The Pearl has most of the features that you’d expect on a high-end smartphone, including fast Web browsing that makes mobile Internet surfing painless. Voice calls are very clear, the screen is crisp and bright, and the built-in camera takes reasonably good pictures for a phone cam and has a nice bright flash, although it doesn’t do video clips.

Treo 650 to Get BlackBerry Software Next Year

Post

Seems that the future of Research In Motion Ltd. (RIM) won’t be in BlackBerry hardware sales, but from software licensing to other phone companies. Today they announced that the Treo 650 will install their push e-mail software on the Treo 650 early next year. Strange since rumors of the new Treos coming out soon have been floating around the web for the last couple of weeks.

And interestingly enough further down in the article we find this gem.

Palm will start selling the BlackBerry Treo 650 right around the time it introduces a new Treo that runs Windows Mobile. The Windows Treo will use Microsoft-developed push e-mail technology that is expected to be part of a new version of Windows Mobile available later this year.

Treo 600 users are out of luck.
