Samsung and Bang & Olufsen are tag teaming again with their new products in hope of demonstrating their clean and hip urban style. Their last meeting of the minds left everyone with a sour taste a bit. The the WEP 420 “high class” Bluetooth headset is their new baby. A sliding cover on the headset offers a clean, button-hiding design while helping to “block static.” The cradle, which of course, charges the headset when not in use can also be “used an interior decoration item” which is… uh, huh? Available in March for an undisclosed price.

RIM has won everyones hearts over with their blackberry’s but the 8300 looks to foil that. As the Boy Genius warns us the phone lacks Wi-Fi, video capturing capabilities, and 3G. Despite those setbacks, BG likes the phone’s thinner, smaller design (think Pearl meets 8800), .

Verizon Wireless, the No. 2 U.S. cellphone carrier, passed on the chance to be the exclusive distributor of the iPhone almost two years ago, balking at Apple’s rich financial terms and other demands. Apparently Apple’s first choice for exclusive iPhone service was Verizon and not Cingular! The two companies couldn’t agree on a deal that worked for both companies. “We said no.” Said Jim Gerace, a VZW VP. “We have nothing bad to say about the Apple iPhone. We just couldn’t reach a deal that was mutually beneficial.” Talks began as far back as two years ago, but Apple’s demands were steep.

Apple wanted a percentage of monthly service fees, control over distribution that would limit iPhone sales to Apple and Verizon stores, and even some control over service and support for iPhone customers. “They would have been stepping in between us and our customers to the point where we would have almost had to take a back seat … on hardware and service support,” say Gerace.

Whether consumers — who would have presumably had a fair shot at an EV-DO iPhone with Verizon as a service provider — will win in the end is yet to be seen.

How many people you know, got new cellphones over christmas? How many text messaged pictures did you get of New Years? What is it that people are using their phones for? This survey shows cameras coming in a distant second to texting among teenage cell phone feature preferences:

* Games - 12%
* Music player - 5%

According to a survey by Forrester Research Inc. about 40% of cell phones have cameras but only 30% of them ever get used. I guess only the smart ones are using their camera phones…and putting them to good use no less. Even though your cell phone might play music, chances are you’re probably carrying a cell phone and an MP3 player. Jabra seems to think there’s no reason to carry two pairs of headsets also. If your MP3 player has Bluetooth in it you can use the BT 8010 Bluetooth stereo headsets to listen to tunes on your MP3 player or take/make calls on your cell phone.

Here’s the catch: Many MP3 players don’t yet have Bluetooth. So you’ll need to get an accessory that can give your MP3 player this feature, or have an MP3 Bluetooth capable cellphone.
