It was announced today that Nokia and Motorola have decided to partner with DVB-H to provide mobile video content and mobile TV. DVB-H has established itself as one of the leading providers of mobile video content and many industry experts expected Motorola and Nokia to join the company.
“Operators around the world are evaluating broadcast mobile TV as a compelling new service to offer their subscribers - and interoperability will play a key role in bringing these services to market faster,” said Rob Bero, Director of Broadcast Technologies, Motorola
DVB-H allows users to stream about 50 channels straight to their television containing shows, sports updates, and the latest news and weather from all around the world.

Sprint has officially announced that their new Power View service will be coming to certain Sprint plans in the near future. The program allows users to get the latest news and video highlights in all different sports straight to their cell phone. The Power View program will come standard on any Sprint Vision and Power Vision contract, and will most likely be able to be purchased if you do not have one of these two contracts.
Power View will utilize Sprint’s exclusive partnership with the NFL and have up to date NFL news and reports. It will be available on both channel 33 and 35 on Sprint TV.

This has been one of the hottest stories in the mobile phone industry. The popular cell phone accessory company, Jamba (who was also known as Jamster here in the United States) has just been sold buy Versign.
Earlier this week, News Corp., who also owns web sites such as MySpace.com, purchased Jamba for a reported $188 million. Jamba will be integrated into News Corp.’s For Mobile service.
Jamster has been known for many very popular ring tones, such as the Crazy Frog Ringtone, as well as most of the games that can be purchased for the cell phone.

LG has accidentally let photos and specs of their newest cell phone, the LG Chocolate VX8600, be published on the Internet. The clamshell flip phone is the much anticipated flip version of the LG Chocolate cell phone that came out just a few weeks ago and has already been a huge success throughout the United States and globally.
Wee do not have a launch date for this new phone, but we can expect it to be soon. What we do know is that the LG Chocolate Flip phone will feature a full music player, a 262k color screen, a 1.3 mega pixel camera and many other state of the art features.

There are a number of new reports coming out and saying that the newest MP3 player to enter the market, the Microsoft Zune, which is generating a lot of buzz over the blogosphere, will soon be getting cell phone capabilities. This is just a rumor based on a comment from Chris Stephenson, GM for Zune, who said in a press conference, “A Zune phone is definitely part of the future of this brand.”
There is no further information available from Microsoft, though it would be ironic if the Zune was able to beat the iPod into the MP3 player turned cell phone market since there have been rumors of an iPod cell phone for years now with no results.

Samsung has officially introduced their newest cell phone, the SGH-P310, which also functions as a credit card and allows users to make payments.
We announced yesterday that in some countries, more and more people are using their cell phones as credit cards. Well today, Samsung officially announced the launch of their new credit card phone, the SGH-P310. The phone is the successor of the SGH-P300, which was appropriately dubbed the “Card Phone.”
The SGH-P310 has a nice sleek design, and is thin and compact. It is clean without being too flashy, which makes it great for any business professional who wants a phone that looks simple, but at the same time, has all the features they need. The SGH-P310 has a 2 mega pixel camera with 4x zoom as well as a flash mode, and also comes with a 1.9-inch 262K-Color LCD screen. Other features available include voice recording and text messaging capabilities, as well as the ability play MP3 or ACC and ACC+ audio files, check and send e-mail using Microsoft Outlook, and off course, make payments. It is very thin at just 8.5 mm thick, and comes with 80 GB of built in memory.
The phone is not yet available in stores, but will soon be. Samsung has already announced that they plan to bring the SGH-P310 to Europe in late September and to Asia in late October. It is unclear when the phone will be available here in the United States as the technology is still new and is in its developing stage. We can expect to see Samsung and other cell phone manufacturers and service providers bring “Credit Card Cell Phones” to other parts of the world in the very near future.

The new much anticipated Motorola SLVR L6 is now finally available from Motorola and Cingular. Like all other Motorola phones, the L6 is very thin and has a number of excellent features that many users will appreciate. The only feature that is disappointing however, is the camera as even though it has 4x optical zoom, the maximum image resolution is just 640 x 480 pixels, which is far less than that of other phones created by other manufacturers. Companies such as Samsung and Sony place a larger emphasis on the built in camera aspect of the cell phone than Motorola does. Motorola is more concerned with a sleek sexy design and the L6 shows just that.
This phone is the cheaper model than the SLVR L7 and the only apparent feature that the L6 does not have is iTunes compatibility, which is only available with the SLVR L7, Rokr E1, and RAZR v3i, all created by Motorola and serviced on Cingular.
The L6 is thinner than the L7 and is Motorola’s thinnest handset so far at just 10.9 mm thick. (The L7 is 11.5 mm thick) It features a scratch resistant 65K color screen so if you drop it, you don’t have to worry about your screen. It also features a mini video recorder that allows you to take and store short video clips. However, like mentioned before the L6 does not come with iTunes like we mentioned previously, but it still features excellent sound quality and can play any files in the MP3 or ACC format. It only has 10.0 MB of internal space however, so it is not going to be able to store many of your songs. In most cases, users can get one ring tone and two songs onto their cell, which they can change from time to time. Hence, its not going to replace your iPod or other MP3 player.

Cingular and Motorola have teamed up to launch a Motorola RAZR with built in iTunes. With this partnership, the RAZR joins the Rokr E1 and Slvr L7 as Motorola cell phones that are compatible with iTunes.
These days, cell phones are becoming complete multimedia centers. Many cell phones and service providers allow users to perform basic functions such as browse the Internet, text message, and take pictures and videos, but now cell phones are coming with built in XM Radio, Sprint has begun to offer full movies that you can download and watch on your cell phone, Texas Instruments and TiVO have teamed up to offer TiVO services on your phone in the near future, and almost every new phone that is creates comes with some sort of built in MP3 player these days.
The RAZR v3i is listed at just under $300, but users can get it for $249.99 with a $50 mail in rebate. Motorola’s other two phones that also come with iTunes are also hosted with Cingular making it the only carrier in the United States that is compatible with the iTunes service. This cell phone is only available in the “silver quartz” color and comes with a 512MB MicroSD flash memory card, USB Cable, iTunes software for your computer, a stereo headset, 3.5mm headset adapter, and a power charger.
Each RAZR v3i can hold up to 100 songs and to download and play songs, you need to use a USB to transfer audio files from your computer to the cell phone.
Cingular and iTunes have not signed an exclusive agreement so expect this service to be available on other carrier’s phones as well in the near future.
