When Motorola pushed out its uber popular RAZR phone it set the bar for how thin a phone could go. Well it seems a small Korean manufacturer by the name of VK wishes to claim the crown of thinnest phone evAr with VK2000.

The phone is a sick 8.8mm thick and weighs in at a whopping 48g (/sarcasm). What seals the deal for it being one of the hottest gadgets for the holiday season is the fact they are pricing it under $100. No word on whether or not this will hit stateside, but you can anticipate it happening sooner or later once word spreads.
So what is it with trying to get the world’s smallest/thinnest phone? I think they are cool, but I also don’t wish to lose something as tiny as a business card yet cost 3000x more. I currently use the Motorola A630 and am very happy with it’s size and thickness. Maybe they will just create disposable phones one day as that would seem to make life a bit easier.

I can understand wanting to port Doom to mobile phones. It makes total sense and is a great way to kill some time and monsters. But I can’t fathom why a DOOM RPG would be the least bit appealing to anyone. Of course I still haven’t figured out why people like to dip their Wendy’s french fries into their Frostys.
Doom RPG is a first-person turn-based role playing game set in the Doom universe. Developed specifically for your mobile device, you reprise the role of the Doom Marine made famous in the groundbreaking id Software titles Doom, Doom II, and Doom 3. Say goodbye to humdrum mobile gaming and prepare yourself for the return to Mars in a showdown with the legions of Hell!

The game runs on phones that support J2ME with the MIDP 2.0 environment and also phones running BREW 2.0 or later. Checkout JAMDAT for the latest details.
I still find it fascinating that no matter how hard we push new technology we always seem to go back to the classics. They just don’t make them like they used to I guess.

Cingular Wireless, the No. 1 U.S. wireless carrier, plans this year to sell a “walkie-talkie” style phone and launch a service next year that will let users download music on their mobile phone, a senior executive said on Wednesday.
Please forgive me for being a tad bit confused here, but didn’t Cingular just recently launch the ROKR in conjunction with Apple’s iTunes? Isn’t this a conflict of interest? And why would you announce something like this when news of the ROKR not getting off to a hotstart are making waves around the Web? The walkie-talkie phone I can understand because everyone seems to love using those damn Nextel phones, but hate to hear other people put them to poor use (everyone wants privacy, but they don’t mind broadcasting their conversation).
It’s these kinds of questions ladies and gentlemen that prevent me from running multi-billion dollar companies.

Howard Forums has posted this image of a Motorola RAZR phone with an iTunes icon. While this isn’t out the realm of possibility, I hate seeing blurred images such as this because we could very well just be looking at a nice Photoshop job. However, we feed off of rumors so it only makes sense to report it.
I can’t say I am totally sold on the phone/mp3 hybrid, but all the none geeks I talk to seem to be wanting and salivating over the new ROKR phone. I guess owning 3 iPods will leave a man jaded.
